Duyen Ninh Pagoda is also called Thu Pagoda by the folks. The pagoda is situated in the special protection area of Hoa Lu ancient capital in Ninh Binh Vietnam. From the south of National Route 1A or the northeast of National Route 10, the mountain looks like a girl with the long untied hair, lying on her back. The girl is looking up into the sky and immersing herself in the nature. The mountain has three peaks. The highest one is in the middle, the rest two peaks slope gentle down like the wings of the bird. The mountain with the shape of a soaring bird, so another name of it is Dien Xi Son. “Dien” means eagle, Xi means wings and “ Son” is mountain. In Le Dynasty, the pathway for the emperor patrol was made around the mountain. On the four sides of the mountain, the emperor also order the canals to be dug. The western cliff carved three Chinese characters “Tao Thiet Ky” which means the queer creation. The northwest side carved four Chinese characters “Thien Nhien Xao Dieu” by Trinh Sam Lord with the meaning that this is the talented of Nature. Nhat Tru Pagoda was also the inspiration for One Pillar Pagoda built in Thang Long capital in 1049. Nhat Tru Pagoda in Ninh Binh is also called One Pillar Pagoda. National treasure in Nhat Tru Pagoda Built in 995, Nhat Tru Pagoda is located in Truong Yen Commune, Hoa Lu District, Ninh Binh Province, 100 km south of Hanoi. The temple is located in the remaining of the conservation area of Hoa Lu. Hoa Lu is the first capital of the feudal country of Vietnam from 968 until the reign of Emperor Ly Thai To, the founder of the Ly dynasty. Emperor Ly Thai To moved the capital to Thang Long (now it is Hanoi) in 1010. Nhat Tru Pagoda in the 10th century is a place of worship and gatherings of the monks such as Phap Thuan, Khuong Viet and Van Hanh. Overview of Dong Dac Pagoda Dong Dac pagoda has also the name Kim Lien Pagoda, located in Dong Dac hamlet, Dong Huong commune, Kim Son district, Ninh Binh province. According to the inscriptions, Dong Dac pagoda was built in 1838 in Nguyen dynasty, after a monk Le family was awarded the highest central land Dong Dac by Nguyen Cong Tru who founded the hamlet on the new land of Kim Son. In 1829, a monk Le came to this place to build a pagoda, was supported by Nguyen Cong Tru, so Nguyen Cong Tru selected the highest land in the center of Dong Dac commune to build the pagoda. Unique architecture of Dong Dac Pagoda The temple is considered the earliest religious architecture in Kim Son, built before the architectural complex of Phat Diem church dozens of years.
