Cuc Phuong National Park covers an area of 25,000 hectares and is also the first national forest of Vietnam. Cuc Phuong is characterized by tropical rainforests all year round, with abundant and diverse fauna and flora. There are many species of plants which are highly endangered species discovered and preserved here, in which prominent Delacour’s langur is considered the symbol of Cuc Phuong forest.
The time suitable for Cuc Phuong visit
The best time to visit Cuc Phuong national park is during the dry season (from December to May), because at that time, the weather in the forest is very cool. How to move to Cuc Phuong forest
Come to Cuc Phuong you can go by motorbike, drive car by yourselves or by passenger car. If you travel by private car you will feel more comfortable, because the private car can run deep into the forest.
Travel by motorbike or private car: From Ha Noi, you take the National Highway 1A, go to Gian Khau junction (Gia Vien district, 10 km from Ninh Binh city) and continue to turn to Highway 12A passing town of Nho Quan 2km then turn left to Cuc Phuong forest.
Transfer by bus or passenger car: You can go to Giap Bat bus station to take a bus to Nho Quan and from here, continue to catch the bus to Cuc Phuong forest.
Places to visit when coming to Cuc Phuong National Park
Nguoi Xua Cave: is also named Dang Cave. This is a place to preserve the vestiges of the prehistoric people and is the precious heritage of Cuc Phuong garden.
Con Moong Cave: Because outside the cave there is a large stone protruding in the shape of the animal, the cave is named Con Moong (animal in Muong language). This is also the residence of the ancient people, and is also an important archaeological site classified as a national monument.
Trang Khuyet Cave: see from the distance, you will find the gate of the cave has the shape as a waning moon, the cave is located deep in the forest.
Ma Bac Peak: The peak of May Bac Mountain is 648m high, from there, you can admire the panorama of the national park together with Hoa Lu ancient capital and Bai Dinh Pagoda. However, the road to the top of May Bac has many steep slopes, so it is only suitable for people with good health.
Yen Quang Lake – Pho Ma Cave: you can go back to Nho Quan, Ninh Binh Vietnam about 7km, to Tri Phuong bridge and then turn to the west to reach Yen Quang lake. Going through Thung La valley to the limestone mountain, you can admire the Pho Ma Cave. Pho Ma is a virtual architectural work of nature with countless stalactites of interesting shapes.
The ancient trees thousand years: Cuc Phuong forest has many ancient trees such as Dang tree of 45m high with a diameter of 5m, Cho xanh of thousand years which has a perimeter enough for more than 20 people to hug, etc.
