Overview of Van Long

Van Long lagoon is the largest wetland nature reserve in the Northern Delta, located in Gia Vien District, Ninh Binh Vietnam.

Van Long lagoon is not a natural lagoon but formed from the embankment of more than 30km long dyke on the left bank of the Day River to prevent flooding. Since then, Van Long lagoon has become an immense wetland, there are beautiful rocky islands and caves.

Especially, Van Long lagoon owns beautiful, simple and peaceful feng shui paintings. In addition, you can explore the mountains, gorgeous caves.

It covers an area of nearly 3,500 ha, the largest wetland reserve in the Northern Delta. Van Long, with a rich and unique ecosystem, is home to thousands of animals, plants, and aquatic creatures, of which, the most prominent species is the white langur which is endangered.

The diverse beauty of Van Long

The cave is located at the foot of the mountain, so after crossing the cave, to the other side of mountain, you will see a small valley surrounded by mountains, if you are lucky enough to come here in time – usually in the afternoon (about 15:30 – 16:30 ), you will have more chance to see langurs swinging from a branch to another and the storks flying back home.

In addition, there are some limestone blocks with the shapes similar to their named such as “Meo Cao” (Cat scratches – on the side of the mountain there is a “picture” like a cat scratch on the stone), Mam Xoi (Raspberry), Hom Sach (Book Coffer), Da Ban (Stone Table), etc.
